01Who we are
JoinCommunity.Solar is operated by Our Power Co., trading as My Utility Advisor. We are a Subscription Coordinator licensed by the Maryland Public Service Commission, licence number 23D3065350006676. The company was formerly named Consumers Choice Marketing Inc, and some records still carry that name.
We help Maryland households and businesses join a community solar farm. We are not your electric utility, and we do not generate or deliver electricity. Your utility continues to deliver your power and send your bill exactly as it does today.

02What the service does
Community solar is a Maryland state program overseen by the Public Service Commission. You subscribe to a share of a local solar farm. The farm sends its power to the grid, your utility credits your account for the solar produced on your behalf, and that credit appears on your electric bill.
There is nothing to install at your home. No panels, no equipment, and no work on your roof.
When you enroll through this site, we match you to a farm with capacity in your utility territory, and we pass your enrollment to the subscriber organization that operates that farm. Your subscription agreement is with that organization, and its own terms govern the subscription itself. We tell you which organization it is before you sign, and their agreement is the document you sign.
03Eligibility and the information you give us
To enroll you need an active electric account with a utility we serve, in a territory where a farm has capacity. Not every address qualifies, and capacity is limited and changes.
You agree that the information you give us is accurate and yours to give, including your name, service address, electric account number, and usage. If you enroll on behalf of a business or another person, you confirm you are authorized to do so.
Some programs are for income-qualified households. Where a program allows self-attestation, you are confirming your own eligibility, and we rely on that confirmation. Where a program requires documents, we tell you which ones before you sign.
04Savings, credits, and what we do not promise
Your discount is a percentage of the value of the solar credits your account receives. The percentage is set by the agreement you sign and by the program you qualify for.
Please read this part
A percentage discount is not a promise of a specific dollar amount. What you save depends on how much solar your share produces, how much electricity you use, and your utility's rates, none of which we control. Any figure shown on this site as an estimate is an estimate.
Solar production varies by season and by weather. In months when your share produces more credit than you use, the surplus generally banks on your utility account under the program rules rather than disappearing.
05No upfront cost, and cancelling
There is no cost to enroll and no sign-up fee. You are billed for the solar credits your account receives, at the discounted rate in your agreement.
You may cancel. The notice period and any conditions are set out in the subscription agreement you sign with the subscriber organization, and that agreement controls. To start a cancellation, write to enroll@joincommunity.solar and we will pass it on and confirm it back to you.
06Text message program
If you give us your mobile number and agree to texts, JoinCommunity.Solar sends text messages about your enrollment. This is what the program is and how to leave it.
- Program
- JoinCommunity.Solar enrollment messages, from Our Power Co. trading as My Utility Advisor
- Purpose
- Status of your enrollment, and requests for the one document an enrollment needs, which is a photo of a recent electric bill
- Who gets them
- Only people who entered their own mobile number on our enrollment form and agreed to be texted
- Frequency
- Message frequency varies. We send at most one message per day, and no more than three in any seven days

- Hours
- 9:00am to 7:30pm Eastern
How to turn them on or off
You choose whether we text you. The box is on our enrollment form, beside the phone number field, and it is never ticked for you. You can also set it at any time on our text updates page.

Reply HELP to any message for contact information, or email enroll@joincommunity.solar, or call (443) 888-2223.
Other things you should know
- You must be 18 or older to take part in the text message program.
- Agreeing to texts is not a condition of enrolling or of buying anything. You can enroll and never receive a text.
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
- Messages may not work on every carrier or handset.
- If you change or give up your mobile number, please tell us, so a message meant for you does not reach somebody else.
- How we handle the number itself is covered in our Privacy Policy. We do not sell it and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing.
07Email and calls
When you start an enrollment we email you about it, including a link to finish if you stopped partway. Every one of those emails has an unsubscribe link, and you can also reply and ask us to stop.
If you gave us a phone number, a person from our team may call you about your enrollment. Ask them to stop and they will.
