Yes — if your electric bill says BGE, you can subscribe to community solar in Maryland. Farms in BGE territory send power to the grid. BGE applies credits on the bill you already get. Nothing goes on your roof. You stay a BGE customer.

BGE customers finish through a third-party enrollment path after you check eligibility with us. We do not pretend BGE enrolls the same way as those other utilities. Current BGE offers we route (third-party path): open-category about 10% savings on the value of solar credits; income-qualified (LMI) about 15%. That is a discount on credit value, not a cut of your whole electric bill. Credit size still moves with farm production. The Maryland PSC’s LMI regulatory floor (charge no more than 90% of credit value ≈ 10%) is separate — our LMI product sits above that floor at 15%.

Does BGE offer community solar?
Yes. BGE participates in Maryland’s community solar framework overseen by the Maryland Public Service Commission (PSC). The Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) publishes a project list that includes BGE-territory farms.
That does not mean BGE “sells” community solar as a retail product. Subscriber organizations and subscription coordinators run the farms and subscriptions. BGE interconnects projects and applies bill credits under its tariff. JoinCommunity.Solar is not BGE and is not endorsed by BGE.

How to sign up for BGE community solar
Other sites often promise a one-click enroll they cannot finish. Here is the accurate path.
On JoinCommunity.Solar today:
- Confirm the name on your bill is BGE.
- Start with your zip and utility on JoinCommunity.Solar.
- For BGE, enrollment that is not self-hosted finishes on a third-party path. Review that disclosure and subscriber agreement before you sign.
- Watch for confirmation, then for credits once the farm and utility processing catch up.
Contrast: Pepco Maryland, Delmarva Power Maryland (income-qualified path), and Potomac Edison can use our self-hosted matching and agreement flow. BGE does not on that same self-hosted track today. We describe paths only as self-hosted page vs third-party. We do not name the third-party brand here.

What is a “Community Solar Adjustment” on a BGE bill?
A line labeled something like Community Solar Adjustment (wording varies) can appear on a BGE statement when a community solar subscription is attached to your account. It often reflects credits and related subscription activity.
That line alone does not prove fraud — and it does not prove everything is fine. Verify:
- Find your enrollment confirmation and signed agreement.
- Call the company named on the contract (not only a flyer number).
- Ask BGE through official channels whether a subscription sits on your account.
- Match the bill line to the disclosure: credit value, subscription charge, net effect.
- Never signed anything? Contact BGE and PSC Consumer Affairs and dispute unauthorized enrollment.

Small businesses may qualify when a farm accepts commercial accounts — confirm on the live offer. If electricity is bundled into rent with no account in your name, community solar usually cannot attach to you directly.

LMI / income-qualified options on BGE-territory projects
Under PSC rules, many projects must serve at least 40% of output to LMI subscribers (unless wholly owned by subscribers). For LMI subscribers, the subscription charge cannot exceed 90% of the bill-credit value — a regulatory floor of about 10% savings on that credit.
PSC floor vs our BGE LMI offer: that ~10% is the regulatory minimum. The BGE LMI offer we route today is about 15% savings on credit value — above the floor, set in the live third-party agreement. Open-category BGE offers we route are about 10%. The PSC does not set commercial rates; your signed disclosure controls. MEA’s project spreadsheet has an LMI column; lists go stale.
On LIHEAP / OHEP, SNAP, Medicaid, WIC, SSI, TANF, Section 8, or under income limits on the agreement? Ask for the LMI tier (15% path when you qualify). Self-attestation is a legal statement — answer honestly.
Renters on BGE
If the BGE bill is in your name, you can usually join. Nothing attaches to the building. Your landlord does not need to approve panels, because there are none at your place. More: can renters go solar.
If you move within BGE territory, many subscriptions can transfer — subject to the written agreement. If you leave BGE territory, or simply want out, follow the notice and transfer rules in that same agreement. We will not invent typical notice periods for third-party paths.
Pilot vs permanent program (short)
Maryland’s community solar pilot ended December 31, 2024. As of June 30, 2024, the PSC reported 139 projects and about 204 MW of operating capacity. House Bill 908 (2023) made the program permanent. Permanent regulations were published February 4, 2025. Source: the PSC community solar page.
HB 908 also directed consolidated-billing rules for electric companies (statutory target January 1, 2026). Exact BGE bill presentation can still vary — your agreement and live bills are the source of truth. We soft-hedge any claim that everything already appears on one fixed line forever.
